Debbie's and Joe's New Home

This is not really a "fun event" specifically, but I didn't know what else to call it.

Debbie and Joe have been looking to move to the Portland area for about 5+ years.  I have seen some of the places they have looked at. They were looking for a place about 1 hour's drive (or less) from our place. They had some definite ideas of what they were looking for.

Yippee, they finally found THE HOUSE!! It was quite the process.  George, Gretchen, and I were able to see the house on the day of the inspection.  Then we had to wait to hear how things would go.  The inspection, agreeing on the price, and getting the VA loan approval all took time. It finally closed on August 21, 2026.  Joe has some ideas of what changes he wants to make to the place.  He needs a place for his cars.  So they probably will not actually move for a year or so.

I did not take many pictures of the inside ot the house.  It is a 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom house with a 2-car garage, a horse barn, and another barn-type building.  It is on 60 acres with a view of Mt Hood on a clear day. It is in Yamhill, about an hour's drive to our place.  They are very close to Newberg and McMinnville.  Sherwood is about halfway between us.  That might be a nice place to meet for dinner.

The gravel road that Joe is not happy about.  It is about 1/2 a mile.

They will have to change the name on the mailbox. They will get a PO Box until they actually move.

They did get to keep the tractor.  I am sure that they will need it.

The small barn. Maybe it will be for car parts.

The front entrance is hidden by trees. I don't think that the previous owners ever used the front entrance. Even I had to duck down to go up the path.

Hayden (their realtor) had given Debbie the code to get into the house.  It worked.  She promptly changed the code.

They will be driving down frequently.  Wednesday night will be their first night sleeping in their new home. They plan to bring some mattresses and a few other essentials so that they can stay there. They have a lot to work out and set up.  They will be meeting with a general contractor when they come back.
